Ooooh friends, sorry for the lack of posts and fun on the Nicole Martin Photography website lately, but the last 60 days have been a whirlwind to say the least. As you can see there is a new design, and the new design represents new changes and new FUN! For all my facebook fans, you already know about my new partnership with "The Dating Divas", but non facebookers this will be a new announcement. I am now super lucky to have joined up with this amazing and so FUN group of ladies, and we are all working together to help strengthen marriages and give the readers so many FUN ways of doing that. I am so THANKFUL already for the new friends I have made, and my 3 fellow friend photographers I get to work with, that have taught and inspired me so much already.

One of the best parts of my business has been all the wonderful, new people I have had the opportunity to meet. All of my wonderful customers who share their families and friends with me, and also let me be a part of some of the most intimate moments of their lives. I am super excited that I will be in Idaho Falls, ID next Friday the 16th. I am coming up to visit family, do some sessions, and attend the annual "Spud Days" in Shelley. I figured if I am already going to be out & about doing some family sessions, why not throw in some mini-sessions for the Holidays? Fall is definitely in the air, and I am probably not going to make it back up before winter hits us. Mini-sessions are great for a quick family photo for holiday cards, milestone pics for children or birthdays, or just to get as a surprise for a loved one. Who can ever have TOO MANY pictures?

What I Do
I am an on-location, natural light photographer, and I take a very relaxed approach with my photography. Sure, I try to get eye contact & a few of the more "traditional" poses, but I prefer a more natural look especially with children. I have found it makes for a much happier session as well, if I back off a bit and just let everyone have fun and be themselves. This way I am able to capture more of each personality and the kids in their element.

What to Expect
When you schedule your appointment, we will discuss possible locations as well as what you are hoping to get from your session. Sibling shots, family photos, individual portraits? Any special requests should be made before we start shooting, so I can be sure to accommodate you.
After the session, I will review the photos & pick out the ones I think are the best. The number of finished, edited photos will depend on the length of your session & the number of people included. At that point there are many ways to view your finished images such as: a private album on facebook, email, or I can mail/deliver a copyrighted disc for your viewing. Images are available for 30 days, after that time a fee of $15 will be charged should you need additional time to order.

What to Wear
So, what do we wear? This has got to be one of the most asked questions for photographers everywhere! Here is my take on what to wear to your session.

First of all, dress in something you are comfortable in. Wear something that reflects who you are. If you are a jeans & t-shirt kind of person, and the thought of a suit/dress & heels makes you shudder... by all means, don't wear the dress clothes.
That being said, color is always great! Don't be afraid to dress yourself and your kids in bright, vibrant colors! The style right now is not the matchy-match kind thing; just coordinate and try not to clash. Maybe tie the colors all in together with some simple little details such as a necklace or headband. Also try to avoid shirts with large distracting logos or writing and busy patterns. They tend to distract from the focal point of the pictures and what we want to see... sweet faces! Clothing changes are fine, so long as they are not excessive. I have kids and totally understand wanting to see your baby in three different outfits.

Fun props are always welcome! If you have some bright rain boots, funky hats, an umbrella or a tutu they all make for really great pictures! Balloons, bubbles, and big lollipops add a fun twist as well. I have a stash of props as well, I am happy to bring along if you don't have anything personally to bring.

These ideas are not meant to confine you, but simply to give you some direction. If you have more specific questions in regard to dress, please don't hesitate to ask. I am more than happy to help!
